Are you looking for a position in which you can set direction and help shape our company? If so, then you could be the newest addition to our team as a Port Operations Marshal. Be part of the movement - and play your part.
About the role
We are seeking a proactive and safety-focused Port Operations Marshal to support the efficient day-to-day running of port and quay activities. This role is responsible for ensuring trailers, vehicles, and cargo are inspected, secured, and prepared correctly for shipment, while maintaining high standards of health, safety, and operational compliance. Working closely with operations, passenger services, stevedores, and drivers, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth vessel discharge and loading activities. This role requires you to work any 5 from 7 days per week, on a variable shift pattern.
- Conducting trailer and vehicle inspections, checking for damage, correct temperature settings, secure cargo/seals, lashing points, and trestle positions prior to shipment.
- Receiving, batch, and overseeing unaccompanied vehicle drop-offs and collections, ensuring all vehicles are securely stored while in company care.
- Monitoring quay operations, including hazardous cargo labelling checks, lane checks, and ensuring all cargo is correctly secured before loading.
- Marshalling and directing freight and tourist traffic during discharge and loading, guiding drivers and stevedores to approved parking and loading areas.
- Supporting wider operations by assisting with check-in duties, passenger movements and luggage handling, plant movements (in line with licensing regulations), and any additional tasks required to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
About you
You are a reliable and motivated individual who takes pride in working to high safety and operational standards. While previous port or logistics experience and knowledge of Health & Safety practices would be advantageous, full training will be provided for the right candidate with the right attitude and willingness to learn. You hold a full UK driving licence and are comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, as the majority of this role is based outside on the quay. You are flexible in your approach to working hours and duties, able to adapt to the needs of a busy port operation. Self-motivated and organised, you manage your time effectively and remain calm under pressure. You are equally confident working independently or as part of a team, communicating clearly with colleagues, drivers, and operational staff to ensure a smooth and safe working environment.
We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.
