About the role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Depot Manager to lead our team of skilled drivers in a fast-paced environment. As the Depot Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed, and driving team performance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong transport background and supervisory experience to further develop their skills and grow within our business.
You will be responsible for:
- Overseeing operations at the local depot
- Supervising a team of drivers, ensuring efficient daily transport operations.
- Acting as the Health and Safety lead for the site, ensuring all safety protocols and regulations are upheld.
- Coordinating with the regional ferry operator as needed to ensure smooth operational planning.
- Ensure that all staff are fully trained and competent within their job role.
- Actively monitoring damage to equipment by carrying out routine inspections & detailed investigations where appropriate.
- Ensuring that all relevant policies, operating procedures, and standards are properly implemented throughout the site.
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a Transport Manager’s CPC and bring proven experience in managing a busy transport depot. They’ll be a confident, hands-on leader with the ability to motivate and develop a strong operational team in a fast-paced environment. With excellent communication skills and a solid understanding of logistics operations, they’ll be comfortable juggling multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of safety, service, and efficiency. A full driving licence is required, and while not essential, HGV entitlement and forklift truck operation experience would be advantageous. We are looking for a proactive, self-motivated individual who is committed to maintaining high standards and improving processes. The successful candidate will have a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to make decisions under pressure. They should be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
