We're DF Capital – a specialist bank providing award-winning commercial finance, retail finance, and savings products to consumers and small businesses. Based in Manchester, we serve thousands of customers across the UK and into Europe, supporting their ambitions with tailored financial solutions. We help our customers realise their ambitions by doing things differently – combining the agility and innovation of a specialist lender with the security and service standards of a regulated bank.

In 2025, we launched DF Capital Retail Finance – a subsidiary of DF Capital Bank Limited – to offer specialist hire purchase solutions to retail customers. Our goal is simple: to do the absolute best for our customers, our communities, and each other.

Your New Role:

Due to our current size and growth ambitions this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is a capable leader and has a strong command of financial crime risk. You may be looking for the next step in developing your specialism, experience, and impact at a growing Bank or may already be an experienced operator at that level.

As DF Capital's Financial Crime Oversight Manager you will be responsible for assessing, measuring and monitoring the firm's financial crime risk exposure, and providing effective and pragmatic advice and challenge for compliant management of these risks. You will be adept at engaging stakeholders, offering proportionate advice, communicating and reporting on your insights, and making the complex simple due to your command of the subject. You're happy to roll your sleeves up and work dynamically to achieve this, but understand the importance of 2LOD independence.

You will have strong knowledge of the financial crime reg-tech environment, the different systems available to manage financial crime and the new risks they can create and understand how to optimise systems and control design. You'll be motivated by reducing risk and simultaneously improving efficiency. You will have the authority to make decisions about the right way to do things.

We are a small team, so the ability to self-direct and work dynamically across different subject matter is important. This will offer you the chance to get involved in a variety of subjects and initiatives, which will likely include working on projects that require broader disciplines outside of your FC speciality.

Key responsibilities:

  • Own the design and testing of Financial Crime controls, feeding back directly to operational teams, devising and tracking appropriate action plans, and escalating issues (where required).
  • Support the MLRO to maintain the financial crime framework, advising on updates to policies and procedures in line with regulatory updates and changes to the business.
  • Lead reviews and updates to the Business-wide risk assessment, customer risk assessments, documentation and system-based logic and rules.
  • Undertake regulatory horizon scanning of financial crime regulatory developments, assessing publications and papers from the FCA and relevant industry bodies, conducting gap analysis and briefing a variety of stakeholders up to Exec and the Board.
  • Lead investigation of potential fraudulent, terrorist, or suspicious activity, the implementation of Anti Bribery and Corruption and Sanctions policies, presenting findings and supporting with external reporting.
  • Own and monitor financial crime and fraud risk indicators and provide deep-dive analysis into possible issues/trends.
  • Review and escalation of emerging financial crime and fraud risks.
  • Provide independent advice and oversight on financial crime systems and control design, and where required, design and provide risk training to the business.

You will not have any direct reports but will act as a supporting coach for all colleagues who need to deepen or maintain their understanding of financial crime mitigation and compliance.

Requirements:

Must possess required proficiency to perform essential tasks. At the very heart of every DF Capital employee is a shared identity and belief in what we are and what we do. It's about how we see ourselves and what is important to us. You will live our brand values. As such you will be an approachable, empathetic problem solver, with exemplary communications skills. You will avoid the use of unnecessary jargon and display an adaptable, "can-do" attitude.

  • Experience of working in firms with diverse types of FS products, customers, channels, transactions and jurisdictions, and can make informed risk assessments of these differences.
  • A vision of what good looks like in compliance practices/process, and are excited by the opportunity to deliver your vision.
  • Can communicate concepts in a concise, simple way, even if they're complex.
