We’re DF Capital – a specialist bank providing award-winning commercial finance, retail finance, and savings products to consumers and small businesses. Based in Manchester, we serve thousands of customers across the UK and into Europe, supporting their ambitions with tailored financial solutions. We help our customers realise their ambitions by doing things differently – combining the agility and innovation of a specialist lender with the security and service standards of a regulated bank.
Your new role:
You will be responsible for the accurate processing, allocation, and reconciliation of customer funds across a range of payment methods and currencies. The role supports both Commercial and Retail banking operations by ensuring payments are processed efficiently, customer accounts are maintained accurately, and daily reconciliations are completed within strict deadlines. This opportunity is particularly well suited to someone who is organised, methodical, and takes genuine pride in delivering accurate work. The successful individual will have a strong sense of ownership, understand the importance of attention to detail when handling customer funds, and be able to remain focused and dependable in a fast-paced operational environment.
You will also be involved in investigating outstanding payment issues, resolving unreconciled items, and working closely with colleagues across the business to ensure queries are addressed promptly. As such, it would suit someone who is naturally analytical and curious, enjoys problem-solving, and is motivated to get to the root cause of issues rather than simply escalating them. A proactive mindset is important, as Cash Operations colleagues are expected to identify opportunities to improve processes and controls while maintaining high standards of operational risk management and regulatory compliance. Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to prioritise competing demands are equally important, as the role requires effective teamwork and a commitment to delivering positive outcomes for both customers and the wider business.
Requirements:
- Ensure accurate application and allocation of funds onto customer accounts, including processing of Direct Debits, Faster Payments, Chaps, Bacs and Cheque payments across multiple currencies.
- Meet the intra-day deadlines for tasks set out by the Cash Operations Manager.
- Process payments out of our bank accounts for our customers across the Commercial and Retail branches following requests for funding or return of funds.
- Reconcile between our core system and our bank accounts ensuring balances are correct on a daily basis and liaising with the wider business to resolve any outstanding issues.
- Investigating unapplied payments and chasing for timely responses from the relevant stakeholders in order to minimise the amount we are holding.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives, providing support and operational insight where required.
- Full working knowledge and adherence to all SOPs necessary to complete tasks required for effective delivery of department objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and efficiency within the Cash Operations function.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Keen eye for detail.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload.
