Our signature cosy luxury stylistics seek perfect equilibrium between heritage and modernity, beauty and function, bold statements and quiet elegance – much like the interplay of Black and Milk. Our studio is led by husband-and-wife team Toly and Olga, who established the practice in 2013 with a specialisation in bespoke luxury homes. We are a boutique studio, meaning our team is close-knit, collaborative, and friendly, allowing us to take a highly personalised approach to each project.
About the role: Due to our continued success and growth, we are introducing a new position for a head of design to lead our design team and drive the creative vision of our expanding portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of the studio and work closely with our clients to deliver exceptional interiors. As a head of design, you will be responsible for leading the design team, ensuring the highest standards of creativity and execution in every project. Reporting to the Creative Director, this role requires a seasoned designer with strong client management and sales skills, capable of overseeing complex projects from concept to completion. You will act as a key representative of the studio, liaising with high-profile clients, directing the creative vision, and managing both people and processes to ensure seamless project delivery.
What you’ll bring:
- Minimum seven years’ experience in luxury interior design, with a strong understanding of luxury residential projects.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in interior design or interior architecture.
- Proven leadership experience, successfully managing and mentoring design teams.
- Exceptional client management skills, particularly experience working with high-profile clients.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, InDesign, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to deliver compelling design pitches and presentations within agreed timelines.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage projects on budget.
- A deep understanding of luxury materials, craftsmanship, and industry trends.
- Ability to work within a fast-paced, high-performance environment while maintaining impeccable attention to detail.
What you’ll do:
- Creative leadership – define and oversee the stylistic direction of projects, ensuring immaculate design presentations that align with our brand’s vision.
- Luxury design expertise – bring extensive experience in bespoke luxury furniture, joinery design, and high-end residential interiors, and elevate our existing design standards.
- Project oversight – be responsible for the creative output of all projects, ensuring design integrity while maintaining strong oversight of project delivery.
- Client and sales management – lead client relationships, confidently delivering project presentations, and supporting new business development.
- Team leadership and mentorship – inspire, mentor and drive the design team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Quality assurance – ensure that all aspects of project delivery, including FF&E packages, site installations, and final dressing, are executed to the highest luxury standards.
- Risk management – identify potential project risks, solve challenges proactively, and provide sound strategic decision-making.
- Process and structure – define best practices for internal workflows, ensuring efficiency and alignment with project deadlines.
- Business development support – work closely with the directors to attract and secure new high-value projects.
