Do you thrive in fast-paced environments where attention to detail and problem solving make a real difference? Do you enjoy digging into data, APIs and business logic to make sure everything works exactly as it should? Are you looking for a team that values ownership, communication and getting things done right the first time?
This is an opportunity to join a growing software company whose products power the operations of energy providers across the UK. They’re expanding their Test team to keep pace with a rapidly evolving development pipeline — bringing in a Test Analyst to support their platform.
You’ll work within the Billing team, alongside a mix of developers and testers, focusing on manual testing across a complex and highly integrated system that underpins energy customer operations. You’ll be responsible for testing new and existing functionality within the billing platform, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of releases before they reach production. You’ll design and execute test plans, write and run SQL queries, validate API responses (JSON) and work closely with developers and BAs to identify and troubleshoot issues.
While the role is primarily manual, there’s scope to get involved in automation over time as new tools and processes are introduced.
We'd ideally look for:
- Strong manual testing background, ideally 2+ years in a similar role
- Experience in CRM and billing systems within the UK energy industry
- Comfortable with MySQL (writing and running queries for validation)
- API testing experience (particularly JSON-based APIs)
- Familiarity with Agile processes (stand-ups, retrospectives, refinements)
- Experience with Jira and Confluence (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot issues and take initiative
Formal testing qualifications aren’t essential — if you don’t already hold ISTQB certification, they’ll fund it after probation.
Whilst the team are largely remote first, the ideal candidate will need to be comfortable commuting to Lancashire when required - whilst this may only be a handful of times a year, it can be reasonably short notice so being based accordingly will be a huge help.
