Software Engineer (up to £140k)

Full-Time On-site

This role is with one of Dex's trusted partner companies. We work closely with their teams to truly understand their culture, goals, and what they're looking for, so we can match you with the right opportunity and give you context about the role before you commit to a process.

The role

Most legal AI tools assume models can reliably parse messy, unstructured PDFs on the fly. This team takes the opposite view: AI agents are only as good as the verified, structured data layer beneath them. Profitable, founder-controlled, and growing purely on revenue rather than venture capital, they build the underlying contract intelligence database relied on by household enterprise brands.

The work

  • Own full-stack features from schema design in Postgres and business logic in Django through to lightweight HTMX front ends and Terraform infrastructure.
  • Design extraction, verification, and querying pipelines that turn dense legal agreements into reliable, structured data for natural-language agents.
  • Use modern AI development tooling daily with a disciplined focus on keeping the codebase small, simple, and maintainable.
  • Build low-latency integrations that connect structured contract data directly into enterprise tools and frontier model interfaces.

What You Bring

  • Track record of shipping production web applications with genuine comfort across the database, back end, front end, and infrastructure layers.
  • A deliberate preference for boring, robust technologies like relational databases and server-side rendering over modern front-end bloat.
  • Strong conceptual grounding in software architecture; experience with functional languages like Haskell, Scala, or Clojure is a strong positive signal, while prior Python experience is not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently take projects from ambiguity to production in an autonomous, low-overhead environment.
