The role

Most AI tools in finance are brittle prompt wrappers over generic models.

This Series A startup builds native agentic infrastructure for multi-billion-dollar private equity funds, automating technical sourcing, diligence, and portfolio analysis with fully cited audit trails.

Backed by top fintech and venture investors and growing revenue more than ten-fold over the past year, they have achieved clear product-market fit with top-tier buyout and growth equity deal teams across the US and Europe.

  • The work
  • Design, ship, and scale autonomous agents that research companies, digest complex financial documents, and generate verifiable, cited analysis.
  • Build proprietary foundation infrastructure instead of relying on generic wrappers, including a streaming-first graph execution framework and an interruptible, resumable code execution environment for tool use.
  • Develop multimodal retrieval pipelines combining vision-language models for OCR, deep document search, and end-to-end claim attribution.
  • Engineer production eval suites and feedback loops that serve as the definitive gate for whether harness modifications and model updates actually improve output quality.
  • Collaborate closely with founders and private equity domain experts to turn complex, high-stakes diligence workflows into reliable programmatic systems.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years building and scaling production backend services at a venture-backed startup or top-tier tech company, with full ownership of AI-powered systems.
  • Proven track record taking LLM features, agents, or complex retrieval systems to production, with eval results and operational war stories to prove it.
  • Deep expertise in Python and production search/data infrastructure such as Open Search, Postgre SQL, Fast API, and distributed message queues.
  • An eval-driven mindset that treats benchmarking, grounded verification, and error analysis as core engineering responsibilities, not an afterthought.

How to prepare for a job interview at Dex

✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Dex uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

✨Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
