Our Mission

Human time and effort is the rarest thing in the universe. The fact that so many people hate what they do for work is a disaster on so many levels. How many people live quiet lives of misery? How many generational talents do we miss due to circumstance? Dex’s mission is to close the gap between Talent & Opportunity. We believe that work, and being productive, is part of the human condition, that regardless of AI, human passion, ingenuity and a desire to do things means that work will always exist.

We are building Dex to create a future where technology helps every individual to understand their strengths, interests and unique abilities, and to connect with opportunities where they can thrive, because more people doing things they love leads to a better, happier and more productive world. We are starting by connecting the world's most ambitious software engineers with the companies that deserve them.

About the Role

As the Lead Brand Designer at Dex, you'll shape the visual identity and brand presence of one of the most ambitious early-stage companies in the talent space. Dex exists to help the best Engineers find work they love, while supporting the companies we connect them with, requiring thoughtful positioning across both B2B and B2C audiences.

You'll create visually compelling assets that build our brand, alongside impactful designs tailored to the companies hiring through Dex. This position is ideal for someone who blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution, and who can translate a big, mission-driven idea into clear, beautiful work that gets noticed, understood and acted upon.

You'll collaborate closely with our marketing, content and product teams to deliver high-performing, visually engaging assets, and you'll act as the primary guardian of how Dex looks and feels everywhere it shows up. We prioritise creativity, clear communication and rapid execution and you'll actively leverage cutting-edge AI tools to elevate both the quality and the pace of your work. You’ll work with genuine autonomy and create immeasurable impact in this unique opportunity.

What You'll Do

  • Strategic creative vision: Shape and uphold a cohesive visual framework, bringing consistency and exceptional design quality to all marketing and brand assets.
  • End-to-end design ownership: Create high-quality visual assets for email, the Dex website, onboarding, research/whitepapers.
  • Visual storytelling: Translate strategy, messaging and copy into clear, compelling visual narratives that move people to act.
  • Rapid, agile execution: Comfortably manage multiple concurrent projects, delivering high-quality work at pace without sacrificing craft.
  • Design for performance: Iterate based on engagement data, A/B tests and user behaviour to continually raise the bar.
  • Motion design: Apply motion graphics skills to enhance digital assets and social content with engaging, dynamic visuals.
  • AI adoption: Integrate AI tools into your workflow to amplify creativity, efficiency and quality.
  • Brand guardianship: Maintain and elevate brand consistency across every touchpoint, acting as the primary guardian of Dex's visual identity.

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years' experience as a graphic, brand and/or digital designer, ideally exposed to both agency environments and working in a start-up, ideally within Tech, Software or AI.
  • Exceptional hands-on design skills, demonstrated in a strong portfolio that emphasises conceptual thinking, craft, commercial impact and performance-driven digital assets.
  • Excellent attention to detail — from layout, hierarchy and typography through to final polish.
  • Strong brand sensibilities, ideally with experience building out brand architecture or design systems from scratch.
  • Expert in Figma, Framer, and Adobe Creative Cloud (primarily Photoshop and Illustrator).
  • Ability to execute motion graphics to elevate visual storytelling.
  • A highly proactive communicator, comfortable working autonomously while collaborating cross-functionally.

Nice to Have

  • Experience branding products targeting Engineers.
  • Advanced motion graphics skills.
  • Responsive web-design experience.

What We Offer

  • Above market salary — we're building a world class team and believe pay should match that ambition.
  • Significant equity — we want this to be the last job you 'have' to take.
  • Full private healthcare & dental — because life happens and we want to support you.
  • Fertility benefits & enhanced parental support.
  • Gym membership & wellness benefits.
  • Claude tokens — lots and lots of Claude tokens.
  • Regular socials, offsites and an annual trip.
  • MacBook Pro + team kit.
  • "Whatever you need" approach to tools and support.

Interview process

We move quickly and with conviction. Broadly you can expect:

  • We love it when candidates have experimented with our agent, Dex. Even if you aren't an Engineer, you can get a sense of what we're building, and we love to hear your feedback.
  • A 30m video call with our Internal Talent Lead; we'll share more about the team, role and business before asking questions about your experience and fit.
  • Hiring Manager call: we'll share more specific context on short and medium-term objectives and ask deeper questions relative to the role requirements.
  • Most roles involve a practical task to better understand how you work. Usually completed offline and reviewed by the team.
  • Onsite interview loop where you'll visit the office, meet a cohort of the team, one interview centred on the task you produced, another on Dex culture and values, with a final interview with our Founder, Paddy.
