We are looking for a Head of Platform for a company building a surgical intelligence platform that provides real‑time 3D guidance, transforming complex medical imaging into actionable insights for surgeons.
The platform supports clinical workflows and is expanding from pilot deployments to deep OEM hardware partnerships.
The role
Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will own the entire platform surface: the clinician‑facing UI, the OEM‑facing SDK, the low‑latency edge deployment stack, and the cybersecurity posture required for hospital integration.
You will lead a growing team of software and XR engineers and will define the core interface for both surgeons and partners, with direct commercial and patient impact.
- The work
- Own the Hub UI, the clinician‑facing interface for case management, 3D planning, and intraoperative dashboards, through its deployment at an anchor hospital by Q4 2026.
- Drive the Surgical OS SDK to a v1 ready for an OEM term sheet by Q1 2027 and a signed contract by Q2 2027, ensuring modularity for clean partner integration.
- Run the edge stack on NVIDIA AGX hardware, maintaining sub‑20 ms latency with robust OTA updates and federated learning capabilities.
- Lead the platform's cybersecurity posture, guiding the path to SOC 2 Type II compliance by Q4 2027.
- Lead and scale a growing platform team, currently four engineers spanning software and XR, as it expands to support hospital deployments.
What You Bring
- You’ve shipped an SDK or partner‑facing API that another team or company actually integrated against, not just an internal library.
- You are hands‑on with real‑time, low‑latency systems in C++, Rust, or similar, where sub‑20 ms latency targets are familiar territory.
- You have edge or on‑prem deployment experience, ideally on NVIDIA AGX‑class hardware, and understand OTA update and federated learning patterns.
- You’ve led a software engineering team of 4+ and can still get hands‑on with the code or a late‑night integration issue when it matters.
- You know what SOC 2, HIPAA, or ISO 27001 compliance actually requires operationally, even without holding the certifications yourself.
- You are based in or around London and comfortable being in person 3+ days a week with a small, fast‑moving team.
