Our Mission

Human time and effort is the rarest thing in the universe. The fact that so many people hate what they do for work is a disaster on so many levels. Our mission is to close the gap between Talent & Opportunity. We believe that work, and being productive, is part of the human condition, that regardless of AI, human passion, ingenuity and a desire to do things means that work will always exist. We are building Dex to create a future where technology helps every individual to understand their strengths, interests and unique abilities, and to connect with opportunities where they can thrive.

About Dex

Dex is backed by leading investors a16z and Concept Ventures, with angels from OpenAI, Wise, ElevenLabs, Meta's board, and many more. We value authenticity, ambition and people who make things happen. We work with many of the world’s most exciting technology companies and we’re already known as the place where engineers can find the very best opportunities.

About the Role

We want Dex to be the brand that senior software engineers in London (and beyond) actually turn up for. You’ll own the events calendar end to end and be the face of the Dex community. We already run curated gatherings for engineers and founders, and now needs a dedicated owner who can raise the bar.

In this role you will:

  • Own the end to end events calendar, from intimate engineer dinners through to larger flagship moments, ideating formats, booking venues, managing speakers, running invites, logistics, budgets and on the night execution.
  • Host. You are the face in the room, setting the tone, making introductions, making sure the right people meet the right people.
  • Grow and nurture our community of senior engineers, turning one-off attendees into genuine regulars who bring their best friends next time.
  • Partner with the wider organisation to capture and create content and brand moments that come out of the community.
  • Shape our follow up and engagement approach, helping us to compound with each event rather than start from scratch.

About You

  • You’ve run high quality events, you understand how to bring all the components together to ensure a successful event.
  • You are part of, or deeply understand technical and developer audiences.
  • You have an eye for detail and care that things go well.
  • Organised to the point of being slightly intense about it.
  • You can host. You’re warm, charismatic and unfazed by a room full of senior engineers and founders.
  • Commercial. You understand events and community are part of building our business.
  • AI fluent. Everyone on this team uses agents to move faster.
  • Ambitious and a good human. Fun to work with, direct, gets things done.

Note: We know that talent can’t be summed up in a few bullet points. Even if you don’t match everything we’ve mentioned, we don’t want that to be a barrier. If you’re excited about what we’re building, we want to hear from you.

Why this is a great opportunity

Dex represents an opportunity to join a well funded, early stage business that is solving a real and relatable problem in a gigantic market. Community and events in tech are mostly a wasteland of beige panels and networking bingo, you’ll have the remit, the budget and the team backing to build something people actually look forward to.

What we offer

  • £40-60k salary, depending on experience
  • Significant equity
  • Full private healthcare & dental
  • Fertility benefits & enhanced parental support
  • Gym membership & wellness benefits
  • Regular socials, offsites and an annual trip
  • MacBook Pro + team kit
  • 'Whatever you need' approach to tools and support
