This role is with one of Dex’s trusted Partner companies. We’ve partnered with a high-growth, pre-seed startup that is currently tackling one of the most critical challenges in global security: the "bloodstream" of defense logistics. While modern warfare has evolved, the supply chains supporting it are often stuck in the past, relying on manual processes and fragmented data. This team, composed of Amazon veterans and military domain experts, is building a lightweight, intelligent "middle layer" for armed forces. They’ve already achieved a 90% reduction in computation time for complex logistical needs, ensuring critical supplies reach their destination regardless of environmental constraints.
As a Founding Engineer, you won't be just a "coder"; you are a core architect of a machine designed for high-stakes, "battle-proven" efficiency.
What you'll do:
- Architect the Core: Build and scale backend systems capable of processing vast data transformations and network optimizations.
- Design for Constraints: Develop software that runs anywhere, from modern cloud environments to rugged on-premise hardware.
- Full-Stack Ownership: Take total agency over the stack, connecting new services and remodeling infrastructure to create a seamless experience.
- Mission-Critical Problem Solving: Use Java, Kotlin, and Python as tools to solve ambiguous, high-stakes requirements where reliability is a matter of global security.
What you'll bring:
- High Ownership: You thrive with "strong convictions, loosely held" and have a relentless drive to see a problem through to its fix.
- Technical Breadth: You are a T-shaped engineer who can help select the right stack for the solution at hand rather than being wedded to a specific syntax.
- A "Battle-Proven" Mindset: You value efficiency and reliability over "state-of-the-art" fluff.
- Bonus Points: Prior experience in defense-related environments or military service is a significant plus.
What's in it for you?
- Real Impact: You will have massive "push and pull" influence on the architecture of a company backed by a Tier 1 investor.
- Hybrid Flexibility: Work with a small, elite team spread across Europe, featuring an office in Berlin and a growing presence in London.
- European Sprints: Every month, the team meets in a different European city to collaborate, align, and hang out.
- Founding Perks: Competitive salary, meaningful equity, top-tier hardware, and a culture that tracks impact rather than hours.
