A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am an 88 year old man living in the Pontypridd area with my wife and with close support from my family who are with us every day. I have been a hard worker all my life where I have been self-employed and run businesses locally. I used to enjoy playing snooker, gardening and attending church but cannot do these activities anymore. I have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and struggle with arthritis. I can complete simple tasks myself but can become confused/disorientated especially in the evenings. The Alzheimer’s can make me agitated/anxious and has caused me to retreat into myself, I can also be abrupt.
PURPOSE OF JOB
I am looking for a PA to support me to access the community where possible and to supervise and assist me at home. I will also require some support with my hygiene.
HOURS OF WORK
3.5 hours per week. These hours are to be worked flexibly.
RATES OF PAY
£14.20 per hour
TASKS INVOLVED
- Taking me out into the community and ensuring my safety while out. Places can include:
- Taking me to church
- Going into Pontypridd to visit a café
- Helping me to attend a local memory support group
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
- Someone who is adaptive and can use their own initiative
- A car driver with business class insurance
- Someone with awareness and experience of Dementia/Alzheimer’s
- Someone willing to build a rapport with me
- Caring qualifications desirable but a willingness to learn or complete courses is beneficial
