I am a friendly woman in my 30s with Down's syndrome and Type 1 diabetes, living with my parents in the Llantrisant area. I am an outgoing person who enjoys swimming and ten-pin bowling. I also love shopping, beauty treatments, and spending time out in the community. I spend a lot of time in Barry, so I would like someone who is happy to drive me there and back when needed. I am looking to employ an additional Personal Assistant who can support me to enjoy the activities I love while helping me maintain my independence.
Purpose of the Role
The main purpose of this role is to support me while out in the community, helping me to stay safe, independent, and able to access the leisure and social activities I enjoy.
Essential Qualities and Experience

- Confident in providing support when needed
- Ideally someone who shares some of my interests and activities
- Experienced and trained in supporting someone with an insulin pump and Type 1 diabetes
Hours of Work
Up to 6.5 hours per week. There may also be the opportunity for an overnight sleep-in shift once every fortnight, if available.
Rate of Pay
£13.50 per hour. £69.74 per night, A car owner/driver willing to use their own vehicle for work-related journeys (mileage will be paid). In possession of business-use motor insurance.
About the Job
Although this is a part-time position, it is a formal employed role. A National Insurance number will be required.
Selection and Employment Conditions
The successful applicant will be subject to:
- A trial period in the first instance
- Satisfactory references
- An enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, funded by the Local Authority
- Right to work checks in line with UK employment legislation
Wages will be paid every two weeks, and holiday pay will be provided in accordance with employment regulations.
