Personal Assistant
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am an elderly lady living in Barry. I try to lead an active lifestyle; The activities I enjoy are, singing, walking. I enjoy going out in the car and having a picnic lunch. Most communication that is a task is spoken through song or sign language and we have very holistic approach towards my care and support. I can get tired so there are days where I am happy looking at my photographs and cards that I have collected over the years.
I love looking at art books and flower arranging. I have a hearing impairment and have mid- late Alzheimer’s. During the middle stage of Alzheimer’s, the dementia symptoms are more pronounced. Sometimes I can demonstrate some behavioural changes, including suspiciousness especially with people I do not know. I can also experience confusion about where I am or what day it is. My daughter is very supportive and will be with me when you first start to help me get used to someone new.
Once a relationship has been formed, I can be quite outgoing, chatty and enjoy socialising out in the local community. I do have some coordination issues, getting in and out of the car. I will need help with everyday personal care tasks, I have a good routine which helps me set up and get ready for the day.
PURPOSE OF JOB
The purpose of this job is to support me at home to do the things I like doing and to help me maintain my independence for as long as possible. Companionship and provide respite for my daughter.
PLACE OF WORK
At my home address and in the local community.
HOURS OF WORK
17 hours per week-
Thursday 09:00-16:00
Sunday 09:00-15:00 (Driving license not required for these hours)
Monday 10:00-14.00 – (Driving license not required for these hours)
Tuesday 10AM- 4PM (These hours will become available end of September)

ABOUT THE JOB
This position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check), which must be completed prior to the commencement of employment. The cost of this check will be covered by the Local Authority.
All necessary checks will be conducted to verify that any candidate has the legal right to work in the UK before employment begins.
Although this is a part-time role, it is a legitimate position requiring the submission of a National Insurance number. Employment will commence under an initial trial period.
Wages will be paid on a four-weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay will be provided.
