About me
I’m a 40-year-old autistic person living in the Cathays area of Cardiff. I experience anxiety and depression, and I’m looking for someone who can support me in day-to-day life with a mix of practical help and social encouragement. I have a dry, dark sense of humour and can be an acquired taste; it may take a little time to get to know me (and me know you). My interests include:
- Arts and crafts
- Film and TV
- Lego building
- Theatre and live performance
About you
You should be a good communicator who’s proactive, encouraging, and flexible. You should understand the importance of patience and adaptability, and should be comfortable supporting someone who may need time to build trust. Ideally you should own your own car and be happy to help with transport to essential things such as shopping and appointments.
Place of work
At home and out in the community and taking to events as when needed.
HOURS OF WORK
3 hours per week. £14.65 per hour.
Key responsibilities
- Help with decluttering, cleaning, and maintaining a tidy home
- Support with meal planning
- Provide lifts to the supermarket and assist with food shopping
- Help arranging and transport to appointments
- Help accessing social activities and events
- Help accessing cinema, theatre, galleries, museums, and gigs

ABOUT THE JOB
Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid monthly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You may be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
