About the Role:
Our Quality Manager will lead and develop the local Quality team, champion a positive Customer Experience culture, and uphold the highest standards for food safety and product quality. Through partnerships with other functions and the Global Quality Manager, we actively drive continuous improvement in Quality across the business and ensure sustained success in related deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all products manufactured at the site comply with legal, industry, and customer food safety/quality systems requirements, in consultation with the Global Quality Manager and Director of Regulatory Affairs.
- Work with the Operations Team to continuously improve quality standards and reduce the level of internal quality losses, customer complaints, and the overall cost of poor quality. Work with the Technical Engineering and Product Development teams to ensure capable processes and products.
- Manage third party accreditations and customer approvals plus the internal audit program and coordinate the related activities and corrective / improvement plans generated.
- Leading the site Food Safety/HACCP Team. Manage the QMS System (document control, NCR management etc).
- Assist in the development of a long-term quality strategy for the business. Participate in Group review meetings and Group projects to support quality improvement initiatives across the various Devro entities. Manage cross-functional quality-related projects to ensure all participants adhere to agreed activities and timescales. Confirm outcome success, or otherwise, through post-project reviews.
- Manage and develop the skills and capabilities of the staff within the Quality Department through the effective use of the employee performance and development framework.
- Support internal Continuous Improvement through benchmarking against external quality-based activities and initiatives. Ensure current best practice methodologies/principles are understood & considered through quality improvement plans.
- Manage Product Specifications and Quality Standards for the products manufactured by the site.
About You:
Skills:
- Degree in Science, Food Science or Quality or similar
- HACCP (Level 4 certified)
- Project Management
- Lead Auditor (internal & suppliers)
- Quality Tools (e.g. SPC, RCA)
Knowledge & Experience
Required:
- A minimum of 5 years as a quality professional in a 24/7 high speed food/drink (or similar process environment) with a proven record of achievement.
- GFSI level food safety and quality standards.
- Managing & developing an operational team
- Problem solving, quality investigations, non-conformance management.
- Running complex, multifunctional projects within deadline and budgetary constraints.
- Incident management, Risk management and related decision-making processes.
- Businesses operating with a clear Consumer / Customer focus.
