An exciting opportunity has become available for a HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental) Manager to join the Operations department within Paragon. This role spans across our two Business Process Services, Sunderland and Hellaby and requires presence split half and half across both Sites (flexible with the split time) and the role therefore requires regular travel. The purpose of this role is to develop, maintain and manage the matured HSE systems and procedures necessary to support our integrated customer focused organisation.
As HSE Manager, you will be responsible for managing all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements for the site. This includes the monitoring and management of both regulatory and internal compliance. You will be a key stakeholder, facilitator and champion driving our compliance and awareness of Health, Safety and Environmental processes and knowledge throughout the site.
Your main duties would include:
- Having a visible presence split across both sites equally championing excellence in safety behaviours.
- Monitoring health and safety risks and hazards in the workplace and advising our full Site teams on how to minimise and ultimately avoid risks and hazards in the workplace.
- Ensuring the business is legally compliant with all health and safety legislation.
- Workplace coaching and training employees to manage, monitor and improve the health and safety standards in the workplace.
- Promoting involvement in improvement activities that makes our Sites safer including the facilitation and running of H&S Committees.
- Assisting with the creation and management of health and safety monitoring systems and policies in the workplace.
- Managing emergency procedures (such as fire alarm drills) and organising emergency teams to respond appropriately including fire marshals and first aiders.
- Regular reviews of the HSES management system procedures ensuring updates are monitored, trained, communicated and introduced on time.
- Collating information to formalise monthly HSES reports to drive continuous improvement across the organisation.
- HSES Incident Management: Ensure any corrective action that has been identified are reported, completed and verified in a timely manner.
- Root Cause Analysis and investigation into the root causes of Health, Safety and Environmental deficiencies through problem & process analysis and the identification of process improvements and preventive actions.
- Lead the facilitation, analysis and investigation of HSES issues.
- Communications with clients or 3rd parties where required.
- Liaising with external parties, including customers, accreditation bodies, suppliers, etc. on matters that relate to HSES.
- Ensuring that the HSES internal audit schedules are planned in accordance with business risk and that these audits are conducted to the schedule.
Skills and Attributes we are looking for:
- Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 OHSAS1800, ISO14001, ISO 45001 with 1-3 years working in an operational environment.
- NEBOSH or working towards IOSH managing safely (Essential).
- Core skills: Effective risk assessment, COSHH assessment, accident/incident investigation.
- Solid understanding of HSES Regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of environmental policies.
