Based in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District, Chatsworth is one of the country’s most famous historic houses and home of the Devonshire family. It is also one of the UK’s most popular visitor destinations.

We have a rare opportunity for an experienced Butler to join our friendly private household team based at Chatsworth House.

This is an extremely varied role and duties will include all aspects of a house butler role as well as other domestic tasks, which will include supporting the housekeeping team when required. You will ensure the highest standards and a comfortable home environment are maintained, and a seamless, positive and professional service is provided at all times for the principals, their family and guests.

With your exemplary customer service skills and a genuine passion for creating an exceptional experience, you will have extensive front of house service in hospitality, meeting and looking after guests. If you have relevant experience as a Butler in a large private household, or private estate, that would be beneficial but it’s not essential for the right candidate. An outgoing personality and a sense of humour are key, along with the ability to relate to all levels.

This is a very busy household, doing a great deal of entertaining on both a formal and informal basis and therefore there is a need to be adaptable, reacting as appropriate to the situation in a calm and efficient manner.

The need for complete confidentiality, high integrity, attention to detail and complete trust cannot be overstated as an essential personal attribute for our Butler.

This is a full-time, permanent, year-round position working 5-days per week, including split shifts, weekend and evening work. The role will have extremely busy periods when the family are entertaining, followed by quieter periods when the family are away; therefore, workload and working time will vary. There will also be a requirement to work at other locations on the Chatsworth Estate, which will include occasional work at Bolton Abbey in Yorkshire.

The generous salary package is up to £40,000 pa depending on experience, plus benefits. Accommodation is available on the Derbyshire Estate.
