for engineering and construction teams. Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to align construction programmes with survey operations. Manage and archive survey files and records to support project compliance and audits using the Projects Document Management system. Ensure all surveying works comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in engineering surveying, especially within the Defence & Security sector.
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanners.
  • Strong knowledge of survey data processing software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone, and Leica 3DR.
  • Understanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civil engineering context.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • CSCS Card and relevant site safety qualifications.
  • BPSS security clearance eligibility.

Our client, a key player in the Defence & Security sector, is looking for an experienced Surveying Engineer to join their team for a contract position based at the Devonport Royal Dockyard in Plymouth. With a significant focus on engineering and precision, this role plays an essential part in the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site. Working closely with an Engineering Survey Manager, the Surveying Engineer will ensure the success of complex construction tasks while adhering to security clearance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Check and maintain survey control networks.
  • Conduct assurance surveys for RC structure construction, including pre‑pour and post‑pour checks.
  • Perform as‑built surveys through laser scanning and modelling of point clouds.
  • Ensure survey data is collected and recorded accurately following project QA/QC standards.
  • Support engineers with setting out activities to ensure consistent approaches to surveying.
  • Prepare survey reports, drawings, and data outputs.
