We\’re offering members a unique opportunity to become more actively involved in the oversight of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Pension Schemes. As a full member of the board, you\’ll get to have your say on each issue and be the voice for all the members / employers you represent.

What is the Local Pension Board and what does it do?The Pension Board has an oversight role, and helps the Fire Authority, which administers the pension, secure compliance with pension regulations and ensure the effective and efficient governance and administration of the Firefighter Pension Schemes.

The Board is currently chaired by Maria Phillips, Assistant Director, Corporate Services. To ensure even representation the board is comprised of:

Four member representatives (retired, active, or deferred members, including trade union).

Two internal employer representatives (Director Level)

One external employer representative (Fire Authority)

One independent representative

Commitment and trainingDuring your four year term of office you will attend Board meetings quarterly.

You must be willing to attend induction and training sessions to make sure you acquire and maintain the high level of knowledge and understanding you will need to carry out your role.

You won\’t be paid for the role, but reasonable travel and subsistence will be paid, in accordance with the DSFRS Expenses Policy.
