The predicted salary is between 42000 - 60000 Β£ per year.

We are looking for 2 permanent Fire Safety Station Managers to join and enhance our Protection Team based in the Taunton and Yeovil areas. This role is conditioned to the Flexi-Duty system and has been assimilated to Station Manager B. Please note if applying as a promotion the Service has introduced Development rates of pay with effect from 1 April 2024. These pay rates are set out by the National Joint Council.

About the role:

The main purpose of our Fire Safety Manager role is to contribute to the protection of people and communities within Devon and Somerset by managing and supporting us in fulfilling our Statutory Protection duties. You will support the Protection Lead to deliver against our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services\’ vision and priorities. You will lead the Protection Teams across the Service, and lead, oversee and deliver on our Service Protection Risk Based Intervention Programme.

Key responsibilities of the Fire Safety Manager role:

  1. Lead and manage Protection Teams covering Devon and Somerset
  2. Deputise for the Protection Lead in their absence
  3. Ensure we carry out and undertake all of our statutory responsibilities in relation to Protection, including the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004, Fire Safety Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021
  4. Support the Service Delivery Plan by ensuring consistent and effective communication with all staff and external partners through the delivery of key strategic projects
  5. Attend regional and national meetings representing Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service with NFCC Protection Work
