Summary Join Our Team as an Academy Support Technician at Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service
We have an opportunity for an Academy Support Technician to join our Training teams based at our Training Academy at Exeter Airport.
This role is initially available on a fixed term basis until 31 March **** to provide cover for the substantive post holder, with the potential to be extended.
It is a full-time position (37 hours per week) that offers a competitive salary starting at Β£26,824 (gross) per annum β applications for flexible working and part time hours will be considered.

Your Role As an Academy Support Technician you will be required to provide support to the Training Breathing Apparatus function at the Service Training Academy β Exeter Airport, and to undertake general preparation of training scenarios and support during training exercises, maintenance of equipment and vehicles and driver duties including LGV.
Find out more To support the departments goals and objectives, in accordance with DSFRS policies and procedures and participate in a team based environment.
To provide support to all training events with particular reference to preparation for training exercises, safety and subsequent maintenance and stowage after the training event.
To ensure lecture rooms and other mobile facilities are fully equipped and ready for use by checking before and after.
To carry out maintenance of designated training equipment, including standard testing and maintenance of records.
To use the Service vehicles (including LGV and trailer) and to perform various duties including the collection and delivery of resources for training.
To assist in the security of the Academy Site after ****hrs when required in so far as locking buildings and facilities before leaving sites.
To carry out some maintenance of grounds and facilities within training sites including liaison with contractors working at the Training Academy, fire alarm, heating, utilities, fire house etc.
To be responsible for maintaining inventory of training equipment.
The role will also include the need to cover for other Technician\βs duties in the event of sickness, annual leave etc.
