We are looking for an 8aPrincipal Clinical Psychologist to join the South Devonmultidisciplinary Learning Disability teams, to help us support the wellbeingof this vulnerable and marginalised group.

You will be a senior partof the Clinical Psychology team across Devon, working in and sharing theclinical leadership of your MDTs. You will be part of a rich multi-disciplinaryteam including Nursing, Psychiatry, Occupational therapy, Physiotherapy andSpeech and Language therapy. Fixed term 30 hours per week covering maternity leave until 31st January 2027.

Main duties of the job

We are looking forcandidates with experience of Intellectual Disability. You will be involved incomplex assessment and formulation; designing complex multicomponentinterventions and delivering these directly and indirectly via individual org therapies, care planning, training and consultation. We would expect youto have experience of psychometric assessment and at least two forms oftherapeutic intervention (such as Positive Behaviour Support, CBT or DBT), aswell as an understanding of the latest evidence around interventions. You willtake a role in promoting clinical effectiveness, developing and reviewingservice provision in order to maximise the wellbeing of individuals withLearning Disability in Devon.

Person Specification

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Learning Disabilities services in the NHS and of the knowledge base, skills and practice of clinical psychology.
  • Significant Post-Graduate (D.Clin Psych) experience

Qualifications

  • Qualified Clinical Psychologist (D.Clin. Psych or equivalent) and registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC)
  • Further training in psychological therapies
  • Further training and experience in interventions with people with learning disabilities

Experience

  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision
  • Extended experience of assessing and working with people with learning disabilities and working within learning disability services
  • Experience of the application of clinical psychology in different cultural contexts

£55,690 to £62,682 a yearpro rata (30 hours per week)
