Wilcombe Primary School is seeking an inspiring, motivated SENDCo to join our warm, inclusive and thriving community. As SENDCo, you will champion inclusive practice across the school, supporting staff to meet diverse needs and ensuring every child is given the opportunity to succeed. The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and senior leaders to ensure inclusive practice and excellent outcomes for all pupils; playing a central role in shaping SEND strategy, supporting staff, and ensuring high-quality provision that meets the needs of every child.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage effective SEND provision across the school
  • Oversee the implementation and review of the SEND policy and provision maps
  • Monitor the progress and attainment of pupils with SEND, ensuring appropriate support and challenge
  • Work collaboratively with staff to develop high-quality inclusive teaching practices
  • Provide training, guidance and support to teachers and teaching assistants
  • Act as the main point of contact for parents and external agencies
  • Lead multi-agency meetings and coordinate support for pupils
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and inclusion policies
  • Analyse data to inform interventions, provision and school improvement
Qualifications
  • We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled teacher who can bring positivity, professionalism and a strong commitment to children's learning.
  • A qualified teacher with QTS and the National Award for SEND Coordination
  • Proven experience of delivering high-quality teaching, ideally at good or outstanding level
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation, the Code of Practice, and effective interventions
  • Experience of leading or contributing to whole-school improvement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to inspire, motivate and support both pupils and colleagues
  • A commitment to inclusion, removing barriers to learning and achieving the best outcomes for every child

Job Details
  • Mid Devon, Devon
  • Part Time MPS - UPS: £32,916 - £51,048 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked) + SEND Allowance
  • Working Pattern: This is a permanent position working 0.8 FTE, 39 weeks per year from January 2027 (or sooner if possible)
