We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team from September 2026.
This post is temporary due to funding.
Responsibilities
- Support communication and interaction throughout the school day.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with the pupil, parents and other adults/children in the class.
- Assist with emotional regulation and co‑regulation when needed.
- Deliver personalised support strategies and sensory approaches.
- Assist with play, learning and social development.
- Provide intimate care, including nappy changing and personal hygiene support, in line with the school’s policies and training.
- Work collaboratively with parents, staff and external professionals.
Qualifications
- Be nurturing, calm and emotionally resilient.
- Have experience working with young children with additional needs (desirable).
- Understand, or be willing to learn about, communication and interaction differences, including autism and sensory needs.
- Respond sensitively to children experiencing big emotions.
- Be confident providing intimate care with dignity and respect.
- Have excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Experience in Early Years, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) support or care work would be advantageous.

- Must have a DBS check.
- Must be able to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
