Senior Engineer

Overview

INTERNAL ONLY (Devon County Council Employees Only)

This role provides an opportunity to gain experience in buildability, site change management, contract administration, and quality assurance within a live construction environment. You will work closely with experienced subcontractors and project teams, developing an understanding of construction methodologies, industry best practices, and the practical challenges of delivering infrastructure projects on site.

Responsibilities

• Undertake the role of contract supervisor and support the management of design changes as works progress.
• Prepare and submit engineering instructions and assist subcontractors in implementing revised designs.
• Coordinate the interface between design and construction teams to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
• Undertake quality assurance activities to ensure completed works comply with the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW), site-specific specifications, contract drawings, and client requirements.
• Gain exposure to inspections, records management, and verification processes to maintain quality standards across the project.
