We are looking for a caring, motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join our Learning Disability Residential Respite Services in Honiton and Exeter.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced social care professional who is passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs to achieve the best possible quality of life.
Working alongside the Unit Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care, leading and supporting two dedicated teams, and helping to create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment for the people we support.
About the Role
As Assistant Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day operation of the services, ensuring that the highest standards of care, safeguarding and health and safety are maintained.
You will support staff development, contribute to service improvements and work collaboratively with families, colleagues and healthcare professionals to promote positive outcomes for service users.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the Unit Manager with the daily running of the services
- Supervising, supporting and developing staff members
- Assisting with recruitment, induction and training activities
- Assessing and reviewing the needs of individuals using the services
- Overseeing medication administration and record keeping
- Working with health and social care professionals to promote wellbeing
- Supporting safeguarding, health and safety, and risk management processes
- Contributing to the continuous improvement and development of the services
- Helping maintain a safe, comfortable and well-managed environment for service users and staff alike.
About You

- Experience working in a social care setting supporting people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and complex needs
- Previous experience of supervising or managing staff
- A good understanding of person-centred care and CQC standards
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- The confidence to manage challenging situations calmly and positively
- The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and meet deadlines
- A caring, resilient and flexible approach
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
- NVQ Level 3 in Social Care (or equivalent) and a willingness to continue your professional development.
