Woodwater Academy are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Administrative Assistant to join our school office team.
Working within friendly and committed staff teams, you will contribute to the smooth daily running of both school offices and help ensure an efficient, welcoming and professional front-of-house experience.
Please note that the pro rata salary for this role is between £19,673 (B4) and £19,984 (B5) gross per annum (subject to change depending on agreed working pattern on appointment).
About the role
As an Administrative Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the school office by providing a welcoming and professional first point of contact for parents, visitors and pupils.
Your responsibilities will include managing reception duties, handling calls and emails, and supporting pupil welfare through administering first aid and maintaining accurate health records.
You will help maintain and update pupil data and attendance information, as well as support wider administrative tasks such as preparing correspondence, assisting with newsletters and carrying out reprographics work.
In addition, you will help keep daily operations running efficiently by assisting with office supplies, deliveries, school meal processes and other organisational tasks that contribute to a well-functioning and supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a welcoming reception service, handling calls, visitors and enquiries.
- Support pupil welfare, including administering first aid and maintaining health records.
- Maintain pupil data and attendance records, ensuring accurate information on the School Management Information System (MIS).
- Deliver general administrative support, including correspondence, reprographics and newsletters.
- Assist with office resources and daily school operations such as deliveries, supplies and meal processes.
About you
- Experienced in administration, with strong organisational and multi-tasking skills.
- A clear, confident communicator with pupils, staff and parents.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, using initiative where needed.
- Competent in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), including Microsoft 365 and school systems.
- Qualified with General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) Grade C+ in English and Maths.
Desirable attributes include
- A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to 'have a go'.
- Experience working in a school office or with school specific software.
- National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 (or above) in Business Administration, or equivalent.
- An eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
This role requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
