Modern Slavery and Organised Immigration Crime Training Specialist in Bristol

We are welcoming applications for the role of Modern Slavery (MS) & Organised Immigration Crime (OIC) National Training Development Specialist with Devon & Cornwall Police.

Salary: Grade 7 - Starts at £36,630 rising by yearly increments to a maximum of £40,893 per annum. Please note that the above salary is based on working 37 hours per week. If this role is part-time or you are appointed on a part-time basis your salary will be prorated to reflect this.

Type of employment: Fixed Term, Internal Secondment

Type of working arrangement: Hybrid Worker - Hybrid working is a form of flexible working where workers spend some of their time working remotely and some in the employer's workspace.

End date of temporary role: 31/03/2026

If you are not currently a police staff employee and are successful for this post, you will be offered a Fixed Term contract. Please note that internal applicants applying for an internal or external secondment should seek support from their current line manager for their temporary release from their substantive role before applying. External secondment requests will need to be supported by the Force Executive. At the end of the secondment the successful applicant(s) would return to their substantive role.

Hours per week: This role is 37 hours per week. However, we welcome applications from individuals wishing to work on a part-time basis and are willing to consider flexible working patterns subject to business need.

Allowances: This role attracts no allowances.

About the role:

The principal responsibility of the MS & OIC National Training Development Specialist is to deliver priorities set by the NPCC and the Home Office for the benefit of front-line policing which have been identified as Safeguarding, Policy, Operational Activity, Ports and Borders and Training. Reviewing and supplying training on a national level and for assisting forces to identify and train their own staff, building knowledge and improving the quality and consistency of the UK's policing response.

The post will work closely with both statutory agencies and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to identify and support improvements in the way in which police forces across England & Wales work in partnership to tackle Organised Immigration Crime (OIC) and Modern Slavery (MS).

In summary, the successful candidate will be developing and delivering training to police forces at locations across the UK. There will be travel involved as the training will be delivered in person at various locations across the UK as well as online. They will be delivering a number of different courses to different cohorts of police officers, police staff and also to some NGOs.

The successful candidate can be based anywhere in the UK and if outside of Devon or Cornwall will be based at their home address. Travel to training locations and any other meetings is paid for by the programme.

The learning to be delivered is designed to improve the understanding of UK policing to modern slavery and organised immigration crime. This will then lead to an improved response to these crime types meaning more vulnerable people can be safeguarded and more offenders brought to justice.
