Dunchideock Parish Council seeks a Parish Clerk/ RFO to support the small rural parish on the outskirts of Exeter, within the District of Teignbridge. The community has some 240 residents. The council normally has 7 parish councillors but currently has two vacancies.

The Clerk is expected to attend the bimonthly meetings that are normally on the second Monday evening at 7:30pm plus the Annual Parish Meeting which is usually held in May. The Council does not currently have a Clerk.

Working flexibly from home along with evenings for meetings, the Clerk/RFO is responsible for managing the councils day-to-day business, providing advice and implementing decisions. The Clerk, in liaison with the Chairman, is responsible for producing agendas and minutes to a prompt timetable.

As the Responsible Finance Officer, they need to retain a record of all invoices and payments for regular Council reports, producing an annual budget in order to apply for the Precept along with documentation as required to be provided annually for the auditor.

The applicant needs to be reliable and self-motivated with basic IT skills in computing, email, Word and Excel. Diplomacy, flexibility and good communication skills are vital requirements.

Attendance of formal training and career progression are encouraged.

Working hours are 156 per year, based on approximately 3 hours per week; the weekly actual will vary throughout a year. A salary of Β£13.69 per hour is offered.
