Devil’s Advocate – Legal Revision Studio

Full-time | Hybrid / Remote with occasional office attendance

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience, suitability and fit

Devil’s Advocate is a growing legal education business specialising in preparation for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE). We provide candidates with a comprehensive range of learning and revision resources, including textbooks and written materials, MCQs, flashcards, videos, podcasts and other digital learning tools.

We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic Legal Analyst to join our team and play a broad role in the development of our SQE resources, supporting our customers and helping us continue to grow the business.

The role

This is a varied role combining legal research and analysis, educational content development, customer engagement and general commercial support.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Assisting with the production, review and development of SQE legal materials, including textbooks, revision notes, MCQs, flashcards, videos, podcasts and other learning resources.

* Conducting legal research and checking materials for legal accuracy, clarity and consistency.

* Reviewing and quality-assuring existing resources to ensure they remain accurate, up to date and appropriate for the SQE.

* Helping to develop new resources and contributing ideas for improving the way legal concepts are taught and tested.

* Assisting and engaging with our customers, including responding to queries by email and speaking with candidates by telephone where appropriate.

* Listening to customer feedback and helping us identify ways to improve our products and services.

* Assisting with the development and maintenance of our relationships with law firms, universities and other organisations.

* Supporting the delivery and administration of our courses, Study Platform and other products.

* Assisting with the day-to-day running of the business and taking responsibility for projects as the role develops.

As a growing business, we are looking for somebody who is comfortable working across different areas rather than within a narrowly defined role. There will be considerable scope to take ownership of projects and responsibilities over time.

About you

You must have passed both SQE1 and SQE2.

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

* Have a strong understanding of the law tested by the SQE and an excellent standard of written English.

* Are able to analyse legal rules carefully and explain complicated concepts clearly and concisely.

* Have excellent attention to detail and can spot legal, factual and drafting errors.

* Are confident communicating with customers both in writing and by telephone.

* Are organised, reliable and able to manage their own workload.

* Are comfortable using technology and learning new digital tools.

* Are commercially aware and interested in how a growing business operates.

* Are proactive, adaptable and willing to take responsibility.

* Are genuinely enthusiastic about legal education and helping aspiring solicitors succeed.

Experience in legal practice, legal education, tutoring, content creation or a similar role would be useful, but is not essential.

Working arrangements and salary

The role offers a significant degree of flexibility and can primarily be carried out remotely. However, occasional attendance at our office in Southwold, Suffolk will be required, so applicants should be willing and able to travel to the office when necessary.

Salary is negotiable depending on the experience, suitability and overall fit of the successful candidate.

Why join Devil’s Advocate?

Devil’s Advocate is an ambitious and growing legal education business. This role provides an opportunity to become closely involved in the development of our SQE products and the wider business, rather than occupying a small role within a large organisation.

You will have the opportunity to contribute directly to the resources used by our candidates, work on new products and projects, engage with law firms and other organisations, and take on increasing responsibility as the business grows.

We are looking for someone who wants to become an important part of that growth.
