A leading property management and lettings business is seeking a skilled Maintenance & Refurbishment Operative to join their in-house works team. Operating across London and the Southeast, this is a hands-on, mobile role ideal for a multi-skilled operative with experience in residential property maintenance and refurbishments.

The Role: Reporting directly to the Head of Works & Compliance, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a wide range of reactive and planned maintenance tasks across a portfolio of rental properties. From basic repairs to full kitchen and bathroom installations, the role offers varied work and the opportunity to take real pride in the quality of delivery.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Carrying out general household repairs (e.g., door handles, kitchen units)
  • Minor plumbing work, such as fixing leaks, toilets, and taps
  • Carpentry, including hanging doors and installing ironmongery
  • Kitchen and bathroom fitting, including tiling, grouting, and mastic application
  • Internal and external decorating (painting, wallpapering)
  • Plastering and rendering
  • Gardening, fencing, and external property upkeep
  • Drain unblocking and pest-proofing
  • Basic electrical duties and PAT testing (training provided)
  • Ensuring all work complies with Health & Safety regulations
  • Providing a high level of customer service and representing the business positively on-site

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Essential: Minimum of 5 years' experience in a general maintenance or multi-trade role
  • Strong practical skills across plumbing, carpentry, decorating, and minor electrics
  • A good understanding of Health & Safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Full UK manual driving licence (clean)
  • Desirable: Industry-recognised qualifications or trade certifications
  • Experience conducting risk assessments or Health & Safety checks
  • Background in residential lettings or property management environments
  • Willingness to be flexible and travel across the region
