Are you a recent graduate or early-career professional eager to launch your career in cost management? We are seeking a talented Graduate Cost Manager to join our client-side cost management and estimating team. You will work across multiple projects and sectors, gaining hands-on experience in pre-contract estimating, cost planning, tender support and commercial reporting, with mentored exposure to post-contract cost control.
This is an ideal role if you are looking to build a solid foundation in consultancy-based cost management whilst working alongside experienced cost management professionals and dynamic project teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Support our client-side cost management function across multiple projects.
- Prepare cost estimates and cost plans.
- Carry out measurement and take-offs using digital estimating software.
- Produce Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Works.
- Assist with tender analysis and comparisons.
- Help track project costs against approved budgets.
- Support the preparation of cost reports and valuations.
- Attend site visits and project meetings.
- Help prepare client-facing reports and presentations.
- Maintain organised commercial records.
Working closely with senior cost management professionals, you will develop a solid understanding of construction measurement, procurement processes, and commercial control whilst contributing to process improvements across the team.
What We’re Looking For
- Degree (or currently working towards) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or similar.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- Basic understanding of construction measurement, procurement and costs.
- Good working knowledge of Excel.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Genuine willingness to learn and develop within a consultancy environment.
- Academic, placement or early professional experience in cost management or estimating.
- Familiarity with digital take-off software (such as CostX or Bluebeam).
- Awareness of JCT contracts and client-side commercial processes.
- Interest in developing a long-term career in cost management and estimating.
