We’re working with a leading property developer on an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned Health & Safety Director to join their team in London. This is a high‑impact, senior role at the heart of a major transformation journey – an exciting chance to genuinely shape safety culture across a fast‑growing, award‑winning business. This isn't just a compliance role. Reporting directly to the Group Managing Director, you’ll be the driving force behind an ambitious safety leadership strategy – collaborating closely with the Construction Director to embed a positive, proactive H&S culture across the whole business. You’ll lead the well‑being agenda, deliver meaningful performance insights to the Board, and champion a mindset shift that positions Health & Safety as genuine business value – not just a tick‑box exercise.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Setting the strategic direction for health, safety & well‑being across the group
  • Collaborating with the Construction Director to develop and implement an effective H&S leadership strategy
  • Designing and delivering a cultural change programme that embeds positive behaviours at every level
  • Leading the well‑being agenda, including mental health first aid and workforce engagement programmes
  • Presenting informed safety performance data to the Board to guide decision‑making
  • Ensuring ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certification is maintained and audits are completed on schedule
  • Overseeing fire door inspections, fire risk assessments, asbestos surveys, and building safety compliance
  • Developing KPIs and improvement plans to drive proactive H&S performance
  • Building and maintaining a competent H&S team capable of meeting current and future business demands
  • Acting as ambassador and role model for the safety function – selling a new way of thinking

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior H&S leadership role
  • Proven track record in construction, refurbishment, and development environments
  • Degree / NEBOSH / NCRQ Diploma or NVQ Level 5 (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) – essential
  • A confident communicator who can influence at all levels, from site teams to the boardroom
  • A strategic thinker with the drive to build something lasting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
