About the Opportunity

We\'re partnered with a leading operator in the Build-to-Rent (BTR) sector to recruit a proactive Maintenance Technician for a large, modern residential development in central Glasgow. This is a part‑time role ideal for a hands‑on professional who takes pride in maintaining high‑quality living environments and delivering excellent resident service.

Role Overview

The Maintenance Technician will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day upkeep, presentation, and safety of the apartment building and its communal areas. Working closely with on‑site colleagues, a General Manager and external contractors, you\'ll ensure maintenance tasks, repairs and resident requests are handled efficiently and to a high standard. The role involves a combination of planned and reactive maintenance across a high‑rise rental apartment block.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintenance & Repairs
    • Diagnose and resolve routine maintenance issues within apartments, including joinery, painting, decorating and appliance fixes.
    • Respond to and manage daily maintenance requests through a CRM system.
    • Maintain appropriate stock levels of tools and materials.
  • Building Presentation
    • Ensure both the interior and exterior of the building are consistently well‑presented.
    • Move or arrange furniture within apartments or communal areas when required.
  • Health & Safety Compliance
    • Complete daily checks of the building and plant rooms.
    • Report and action compliance issues through the relevant H&S and PPM systems.
    • Carry out regular apartment checks, including flushing taps and showers.
    • Support planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits.
  • Contractor Coordination
    • Liaise with and oversee external contractors, ensuring work is completed to specification.
    • Assist with sourcing specialist contractors and negotiating cost‑effective rates.
    • Manage work permits and ensure compliance before works commence.
  • Apartment Turnarounds
    • Conduct pre‑check‑in and pre‑check‑out inspections.
    • Complete minor repairs and redecoration to prepare apartments for new residents and minimise void periods.
  • Resident Experience
    • Provide a friendly and customer‑focused service to all residents and visitors.
    • Keep residents informed on maintenance progress and building updates.
    • Meet and exceed service‑level expectations for all maintenance tasks.

Person Profile

  • Is highly organised, proactive and able to manage workload independently.
  • Has strong skills in general maintenance, especially joinery, painting and residential repairs.
  • Ideally brings basic plumbing or electrical knowledge and experience with H&S compliance (IOSH desirable).
  • Has experience in residential property (PRS, BTR, PBSA) or hospitality environments.
  • Demonstrates reliability in managing PPM and safety processes.
  • Is committed to delivering excellent customer service.
