About the opportunity
An established estate management company operating across London and the Home Counties is looking for a Property Management Team Leader to join their South Bank office. With decades of combined experience in the Central London rental market, the business supports both domestic and overseas investors across sales, lettings, property management, refurbishment and block management, and this role sits within a growing property management division.
What makes the role exceptional
You'll split your time between leading a team of four property managers and holding your own portfolio of 50 properties, giving you the chance to stay close to day-to-day property management while developing your leadership skills. This is a hands-on role for someone who's comfortable picking up the phone and getting stuck in, rather than managing purely from a distance. You'll be working with a broad mix of landlords, tenants, contractors and team members, so building rapport with different types of people day to day is central to the role. A portion of the portfolio is held by overseas landlords, so WeChat experience would be a genuine asset when it comes to building trust and communicating clearly. The hybrid structure, with one day working from home each week, supports a better work-life balance alongside collaborative office-based days.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of four property managers, providing guidance and day-to-day management
- Manage a personal portfolio of 50 properties, ensuring high standards of service
- Take a hands-on approach to resolving issues directly, including picking up the phone rather than relying solely on email
- Act as an escalation point for complex tenant, landlord or property issues
- Monitor team performance and workloads, stepping in to redistribute work where needed
- Build strong working relationships with a diverse range of landlords, tenants and contractors, including a number of overseas landlords
- Ensure compliance with relevant property and lettings legislation
- Support recruitment, onboarding and development within the team
Requirements
- Proven experience in residential property management, ideally in a supervisory or team leadership capacity
- A hands-on, proactive approach, comfortable picking up the phone to resolve issues quickly
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Strong working knowledge of property management processes and compliance requirements
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities across a personal portfolio and a wider team
- WeChat experience would be helpful but is not essential
Rewards and benefits
- £45,000 base salary
- 10% annual bonus
- Hybrid working, with one day from home each week
- Opportunity to develop into a broader leadership role within a well-established business
We are an equal opportunities recruiter, valuing diversity and inclusion and welcoming applications from all suitably qualified individuals, regardless of background. If this sounds like the right next step for you, we'd love to hear from you.
