Deverell Smith

Management Accountant - Property & Real Estate | London | Contract

3 months initially - strong potential to extend or go permanent

About the Business

Our client is a well-established real estate investment and asset management business with a diverse UK and European portfolio spanning industrial, logistics, retail, and strategic land assets. Working alongside institutional partners on high-value opportunities, the business is growing quickly and now needs an experienced Management Accountant to support the next phase.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on, high-impact role at a genuinely pivotal moment for the business. You'll step into a period of financial transition and stabilisation, with real scope to shape how the finance function runs going forward.

  • Clear the management accounts backlog - bring reporting fully up to date and establish a reliable base to build from
  • Wind down a legacy management entity - manage reconciliation, closure, and a clean handover of financials
  • Embed a newly operational management company - get reporting processes running smoothly from day one
  • Support the build-out of financial controls - help design and document processes that don't yet formally exist, ready to scale with the business

If you enjoy getting into the detail, bringing order to complexity, and leaving a finance function genuinely better than you found it, this role was built for you.

What You'll Bring

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • Essential: experience in property or real estate
  • Strong experience in management accounts, group/consolidated reporting, and reconciliations
  • Confidence working across multiple entities and unpicking legacy financial structures
  • Exposure to developing or documenting financial controls, ideally in a scaling or restructuring business
  • Xero and Spotlight Reporting experience highly advantageous
  • A proactive, self-starting mindset, comfortable creating structure where none currently exists
  • Audit background a strong plus
