We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to join a dynamic and growing real estate company with an expanding portfolio of commercial properties across the UK and Europe. The business is part of a publicly listed European real estate group with a focus on opportunities in prime city locations.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in managing the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties. You will work closely with the operations team, managing agents, and senior leadership, providing accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review management accounts for multiple properties and portfolios.
- Liaise regularly with managing agents, asset managers, and property teams to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Review service charge reports, invoices, and purchase orders.
- Post and correct journal entries including accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and capitalization.
- Analyze capex and provide reporting insights.
- Prepare VAT and CIS tax returns within statutory timelines.
- Support the acquisition and disposal of assets, ensuring correct accounting treatment.
- Assist with onboarding new properties or companies.
- Perform quarterly balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of quarterly management accounts in line with IFRS and FRS 102.
- Assist in preparing annual statutory accounts and liaising with auditors.
- Provide cover for other finance team members as required.
About You:
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with strong financial accounting experience.
- Previous experience in commercial real estate, preferably hotels, is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with real estate ERP systems such as Yardi, MRI, or CUBE.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritize a diverse workload under pressure.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Clear communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
- Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to work effectively with finance and operational teams to improve processes.
