A rare chance to take full ownership of finance for a privately owned group with interests spanning business aviation and prime property. This is a standalone, hands-on Financial Controller role where you will be the go-to finance lead on site, trusted by the CEO and Board and given the room to shape how things are run.
The opportunity:
- Based just outside Oxford, you will hold responsibility for financial reporting across the group, covering the Commercial assets and prime property portfolio, with scope extending to a London division.
- You will report jointly to the CEO and to Estates CEO, work closely with a London based Finance Manager, and lead a small team of two Accounts Assistants.
What you will be doing:
- Financial reporting and compliance:
- Preparing monthly management accounts with variance analysis at company and departmental level.
- Producing ad hoc management information, including fuel and movement reports, tenancy schedules and consolidated debtor reports.
- Delivering the annual financial statements and managing the audit process.
- Owning VAT and CIS returns and National Statistics reporting.
- Taking overall responsibility for financial compliance, reporting to the CEO and Board.
- Managing business rates, company cash card reporting, weekly airport fuel pricing and review of purchase orders and invoices.
- Planning and strategy:
- Building the annual budget.
- Preparing business cases and financial analysis for the CEO and Board.
- Identifying opportunities for revenue growth and cost reduction.
- Process, systems and people:
- Leading the development of financial processes, controls and systems.
- Maintaining the SharePoint auto invoicing site and reviewing monthly overtime reports.
- Line managing two Accounts Assistants and partnering with the London based Finance Manager.
- Property and commercial:
- Supporting the Estates Manager on service charge budgets, property debtor strategy and utility recharges to tenants.
What you will bring:
- A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), or qualified by experience.
- Strong management accounts and year-end experience, ideally gained in a standalone or small team finance function.
- Confidence owning compliance, audit, VAT and budgeting end to end.
- Exposure to property, service charges or an asset backed business is an advantage.
- A hands-on, commercially minded approach and the gravitas to advise senior stakeholders.
- Someone happy to be on site near Oxford five days a week.
