Client Accountant – Commercial Property
Location: Shoreditch, London
Salary: £40,000 – £55,000
Contract: Full-time, Monday-Friday (Hybrid: 4 days office, 1 day from home)

About the opportunity
This Client Accountant role sits within a well-established property management practice operating from a newly refurbished Shoreditch office. The position offers direct exposure to commercial property portfolios, working closely with the Head of Property Accounts and senior leadership team. You\’ll manage multiple client accounts using TRAMPS software, taking ownership of the full accounting cycle from lease set-up through to year-end reconciliations. The business has built its reputation on technical excellence and client relationships since 1931, providing a stable environment where property accountants can develop specialist expertise.

Key responsibilities
- Manage multiple commercial property client portfolios, maintaining accurate records in TRAMPS for properties, units, leases and tenants
- Prepare and monitor service charge budgets, forecasting and variance reports, ensuring accurate year-end reconciliations
- Process invoices for service charges, rent, utilities and repairs whilst reconciling creditor and debtor ledgers
- Handle daily lease maintenance including rent reviews, assignments and renewals within the system
- Prepare funding requests, client statements and regular management reports for clients and internal stakeholders
- Manage rent arrears through liaison with credit control, tenants and property managers to resolve payment queries
- Prepare VAT reports, reconciliations and support with VAT returns including service charge VAT liabilities for opted properties
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, reconciliations and responding to audit queries
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years\’ experience in property or client accounting with hands-on TRAMPS system knowledge (essential)
- Strong understanding of service charge accounting including budgeting, reconciliation and apportionment principles
- Working knowledge of lease accounting covering rent reviews, lease terms, renewals and terminations
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP and formulae
- Formal accounting qualification (AAT, ACCA or CIMA) is desirable but not essential with strong practical experience
- Excellent attention to detail with ability to meet deadlines whilst managing competing priorities
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, tenants, property managers and auditors
- Proactive and self-motivated approach with ability to work independently and as part of a team
