Due to continued growth and success, a well-established fintech business is looking to hire an experienced Software Developer to join and expand its engineering team, based at offices on the outskirts of Fareham. This role will focus on developing new features and services in Golang, while also working with and modernising an existing PHP codebase. Strong PHP experience is essential; prior Golang experience is desirable but not required, strong developers with an interest in learning Go will be supported and trained.
The Role
- Design, build, and test scalable Golang services for financial applications
- Maintain, enhance, and troubleshoot an established PHP codebase
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
- Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices
- Contribute to platform modernisation and continuous improvement
- Stay up to date with Golang advancements and relevant fintech trends
Key Requirements
- 8+ years’ commercial software development experience
- Strong understanding of software design principles and patterns
- Proven experience working with PHP in production environments
- Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
- Unit testing as part of the development lifecycle
- Experience with Golang (or strong interest in learning Go)
- Background in financial systems or regulated environments
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP
- Experience working with PCI-compliant systems
