Data Engineer | Newcastle upon Tyne | £65,000–£130,000 + 10% Bonus I’m working with a rapidly growing technology consulting business in Newcastle that is looking to add several experienced Data Engineers to its team due to project demand. Rather than sitting in a traditional data function working on the same platform or pipeline indefinitely, you’ll work on complex, client-facing technology projects across a variety of environments. The business works with large, sophisticated organisations on challenging technology programmes, embedding its engineers alongside client teams to solve problems spanning data, software and modern cloud engineering. They’ve grown significantly over the last 12 months and have considerably more project demand than their current engineering team can support, so this is an ongoing area of investment rather than a single replacement hire. You’ll work across the data engineering lifecycle, designing and building reliable data solutions while working directly with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Depending on the project, that could involve: Designing and building scalable data pipelines Developing data platforms and integrations Working with Python, SQL and modern cloud technologies Improving data quality, reliability and accessibility Testing, troubleshooting and improving existing platforms Working within different technology stacks depending on the project Collaborating closely with software, data and wider engineering teams The important distinction is that this isn't a narrow "tickets in, code out" Data Engineering position. Ideally, you'll have a minium of 4 years of commercial engineering experience and a strong grounding in data engineering. Python SQL AWS, Azure or GCP Building production data pipelines Data modelling and data platforms Testing, debugging and improving data reliability The company places a significant emphasis on technical quality and deliberately maintains a high hiring bar as it grows. Engineers are given considerable ownership and are trusted to work directly with customers rather than operating behind layers of account management. You'll work alongside experienced engineers across software and data, with the opportunity to broaden your technical skill set considerably. 10% bonus 25 days' annual leave + bank holidays Pension contributions matched up to 6% Private medical insurance through Bupa Business going through considerable growth and progression opportunities
