We’re looking for a hands-on Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to take ownership of a modern Azure cloud environment within a fast-growing SaaS and payments technology organisation. This is a high-impact contract role where you’ll lead the management, optimisation, and security of a medium-scale Azure estate, working closely with a talented engineering team to deliver scalable and secure infrastructure. If you enjoy autonomy, solving complex cloud challenges, and shaping infrastructure best practices, this opportunity is for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own and optimise the Azure cloud infrastructure for reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Manage and support core enterprise platforms including:
  • Microsoft 365 administration
  • Identity and user management
  • Internal technology support
  • Maintain and support the AVD environment used by engineering and operational teams.
  • Manage secure remote access including:
    • VPN connectivity for engineers
    • Secure integrations with third-party systems
  • Strengthen cloud security posture by implementing Azure security best practices and managing access controls.
  • Work with development teams to design and implement scalable cloud infrastructure using cloud-native and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
  • Analyse and design disaster recovery architecture to ensure business continuity.
  • Drive FinOps practices to improve cost visibility and efficiency across the Azure environment.
  • Implement monitoring and observability to maintain platform health and respond quickly to incidents.
  • Skills & Experience Required

    • Strong experience with Microsoft Azure architecture and services
    • Knowledge of Azure data services (Data Factory, Data Warehouse, Azure SQL / Elastic pools)
    • Experience with containerisation and Azure container services
    • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or Bicep)
    • Experience using Azure DevOps pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments
    • Comfortable working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
    • Experience collaborating with agile engineering teams and third-party technology partners

    Nice to Have

    • Azure certifications such as AZ-305 (Solutions Architect) or AZ-400 (DevOps Engineer)
