Head of Software Engineering – Hybrid/London – up to £160k + 20% bonus

Are you ready to lead, innovate, and shape the future of the sports betting industry?

Our client is looking for a Head of Product Engineering to oversee and manage a portfolio of products at the heart of the Betting Platform. You will be a key member of our leadership team, guiding multiple Product Development teams (around 40 people spread across 6 teams and 6 Software Engineering Managers) collaborating across offices in the UK, Spain, and Sweden, and ensuring our platform remains a leader in the industry.

What you will be doing:

  1. Develop and execute a product portfolio strategy that aligns with business objectives.
  2. Lead and mentor Product Managers, Software Engineering Managers, and Architects to deliver on ambitious goals.
  3. Oversee the full product lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions.
  4. Drive product strategy, innovation, and alignment with market trends and customer needs.
  5. Establish and monitor key performance metrics, driving continuous improvement and efficiency.
  6. Manage resources effectively, balancing budgets, personnel, and project risks.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration across development, marketing, and business units.
  8. Maintain accountability for the security and quality of released software.
  9. Act as a thought leader in the gaming industry, staying ahead of trends and technological advancements.

What We’re Looking For:

  1. 10+ years commercial experience.
  2. Someone that has come from a development background, preferably with GO but can consider anyone with OOP language.
  3. Architecture design experience.
  4. Proven track record of managing large, diverse teams in fast-paced environments.
  5. Cloud infrastructure experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  6. Experience working with teams that build software that scales quickly with no downtime.
  7. A deep understanding of scalable systems and application development.
  8. Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with experience coaching high-performing teams.
  9. Strong analytical and commercial acumen with an ability to translate business objectives into actionable plans.
  10. A proactive, curious mindset focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
  11. Proven ability to manage complex, multi-team environments and resolve challenges effectively.
  12. Experience in the gaming or sports betting or adjacent domains (high transactional and fast-paced, like Fintech).
