Role Summary
Our client, an innovative learning technology company, is searching for an experienced Backend Engineer to help build and scale the backbone of their new AI-driven skills intelligence platform. This solution is designed to analyse workplace interactions to measure how people apply soft skills in practice, moving beyond traditional survey-based learning assessments. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing scalable services, integrating AI models into production, and shaping the platform’s backend architecture as it grows from MVP to enterprise-level adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, design, and scale backend systems using Node.js, TypeScript, MySQL, and AWS
- Take ownership of infrastructure and DevOps processes, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and scaling
- Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) into production to deliver real-time insights for enterprise customers
- Contribute to defining and evolving the backend architecture to support growth and adoption
- Work closely with product and frontend engineers to deliver features end-to-end
Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience building scalable backend systems with Node.js, MySQL, and AWS
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture and relational databases
- Background in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
- Experience in start-up, greenfield, or high-autonomy engineering environments
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of delivery
Desirable
- Prior experience delivering LLM-based features into production
- Exposure to frontend development with React
