Company Name: Colten Care

Job Description:

  • Nationwide & overseas
  • Full-time
  • £42,009+ with regular pay rises
  • No timesheets, no targets, no billing and plenty of adventure!

Army Legal Services is a specialist branch that delivers military legal support and we are interviewing soon. You will be working to the same high standards as any civilian lawyer but will be offered opportunities and challenges that few regular practices could match. From prosecuting at a court martial to advising senior commanders on the rules of engagement in operational theatres that could be anywhere around the world, we’ll stretch your mind and test your mettle with new and varied legal challenges over a range of specialisms.

You’ll also have a crucial role in training our officers and soldiers from across the Army on the Law of Armed Conflict, military law, discipline and administrative action. As a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Advocate (Scotland), you have the skills and knowledge your Army needs. We will give you the chance to take those skills further, both in practice and in giving you the opportunity to work towards your Higher Rights of Audience and other post‑graduate qualifications.

From the moment you join us as a Captain, you’ll be set on a clear path for promotion and progression, receiving the support that you need to rise through the ranks and unleash your potential. You will be trained in multiple areas of law (including the Law of Armed Conflict, International Human Rights Law, Military Law, Criminal Law and Employment Law) by some of the world’s leading academics and practitioners and asked to advise commanders on their rights and obligations, often in austere environments and highly pressured scenarios.

It doesn’t stop there. Whatever your background when you arrive, you’ll all go on to have one thing in common: you will receive the best leadership and management training in the world at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst where you will learn what it means to be an officer in the British Army.

Sport is a big part of Army life. We know that playing sport regularly improves not only your physical fitness, but also your teamwork and brings a sense of camaraderie - all of which are so important to being a great soldier. You’ll be encouraged to try new sports as well as developing your existing skills. You’ll also get to take part in the Army’s exciting programme of Adventurous Training, which is aimed at building not only your physical skills, but also leadership and team working abilities through activities like mountaineering, parachuting, skiing and diving.

BE REWARDED

Become an Army Legal Services Officer and you’ll:

  • Earn a starting salary upwards of £42,009
  • Enjoy a minimum of 38 days paid annual leave
  • Benefit from a fantastic non‑contributory pension
  • Receive subsidised accommodation, facilities and travel, considerably increasing your disposable income
  • Receive outstanding and free medical and dental care
  • Take part in Adventurous Training and be able to play your favourite sports
  • Have access to free sports and gym facilities
