Position Overview
Credit Risk is a centralised risk-type function within the Chief Risk Office. Credit Risk Management - Hedge Funds and Private Equity, supports multiple business units across the Corporate & Investment Bank, primarily across the Fixed Income and Currencies businesses. You will be responsible for managing the credit risk to Deutsche Bank’s European hedge fund and private equity clients. You will have responsibility for a large portfolio of hedge funds, private equity and hybrid funds, spanning a broad range of investment strategies, traded products and structured lending. This role will be based in London and will report into the Global Head of CRM Funds based in New York.

Your key responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the team, provide strong guidance, leadership and expertise, and approve complex and/or large transactions, including structured financing transactions with private capital funds.
- Participate in credit due diligence meetings with clients to fully understand their investment process and strategy, risk management approach and products traded.
- Lead complex legal negotiations and approve non-standard documentation terms on the basis of overall risk assessment.
- Provide ongoing supervision of the preparation of annual credit reviews to ensure consistency, high standards and accurate ratings.
- Support credit officers in difficult discussions with the Business and/or clients.
- Proactively monitor and manage large, concentrated or illiquid exposures using the various credit risk management and product monitoring systems within Deutsche Bank.
- Work closely with the Business to set and manage the risk appetite for regional hedge funds and private equity funds, manage the pipeline of new counterparties, and identify potential offboard candidates.
- Serve as the escalation point for missed margin calls or upon information suggesting a client is in financial distress.
Your skills and experience
- Solid experience in a leadership role managing hedge fund or private equity fund credit risk.
- Deep knowledge of credit risk management with solid understanding of hedge funds and private equity funds, including expertise on the broad range of investment strategies and their associated risks.
- Strong understanding of master trading documentation and ability to provide team with guidance during difficult negotiations.
- Experience handling funds in distress and ability to lead in a crisis is a plus.
- Prior experience in managing private equity funds credit risk is highly preferred.
- Strong product knowledge covering all major derivative instruments and their respective master agreements, with a full understanding of their respective risk characteristics.
