Deutsche Bank Index Quant (DBIQ) is the in-house index administrator for Deutsche Bank. DBIQ is a function within Deutsche Bank Research, in turn, within the Investment Bank (IB), responsible for launching, daily calculation, rebalancing and retiring of proprietary Deutsche Bank benchmarks. These tradable proprietary benchmarks are referenced in benchmark-linked products such as total return swaps, certificates and index linked funds. Indices are classified based on the inputs, use and methodologies behind the index. The index lifecycle involves index creation, daily management such as selection and rebalancing events, modifications to an index, discovery and correction of errors and index retirements. Working with Benchmark and Index Control Group (BICG) (2nd Line of Defence) in relation to issues around governance, risk controls, index classification and conflicts of interest. In this role you will work within the control framework to ensure accurate management of the indices and maintain daily calculations for DBIQ indices.
Your key responsibilities:
- Developing index strategies in conjunction with trading and structuring teams.
- Creating derivative pricing models where appropriate.
- Effectively resolving errors or outages when they occur.
- Following up with root cause analysis and proactively making or suggesting process or system improvements.
- Making judgement on the correct index calculation and where applicable consulting with index developers, management and DBIQ oversight committee.
- Onboarding new indices onto daily calculation, creating and applying an effective acceptance process to ensure the accurate maintenance of new indices.
- Reviewing index documentation including guide and Information Technology specification where required.
Your skills and experience:
- Experience managing or working on daily processes.
- Experience of working in financial markets with knowledge in one or more asset classes.
- Quantitative background and analytical skills and ability to efficiently solve problems proactively.
- An interest in developing or has programming skills.
- Ability to explain and solve complex problems with attention to detail.
- Experience in managing indices/software or trades through a development lifecycle.
