Corporate Title: Vice President – Group Strategic Analytics (GSA). GSA is part of the Group Chief Operation Office (COO) which acts as the bridge between the Bank’s businesses and infrastructure functions to help deliver the efficiency, control, and transformation goals of the Bank.
You will be joining the Core Platform Engineering team, which delivers an information‑security compliant environment for the bulk of the Strat application space. This includes software development in Python, C++ and Google Cloud (GCP) Infrastructure‑as‑Code and liaison with non‑financial‑risk officers and platform system administrators. The environments run large‑scale real‑time and batch computation and are critical to meet the commitments of the business to both clients and regulators.
Responsibilities
- Apply and maintain Non‑Financial Risk (NFR) Metrics to our existing estate of applications, working with IT application owners and the wider Embedded Risk Teams (ERT).
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues within GSA to encourage and ensure best practice.
- Ensure audit and self‑identified issues (SIIs) are addressed and progressed through relevant and appropriate changes, working with business and technical stakeholders across GSA, our ERTs and the Business Control Unit.
- Implement and improve the run‑time environment to enhance regulatory compliance and robustness while minimising outages.
- Conduct structured analysis of application processes, identifying gaps, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Perform impact assessments and support solution design aligned with compliance and regulatory standards.
- Gather, validate and document business requirements; translate them into clear functional and technical specifications.
- Proactively identify risks to avoid external scrutiny by regulators, statutory bodies or group audit and work with the team to build adequate control solutions.
Qualifications
- Ability to interpret policy and compliance materials and assess if software and procedures conform to them accurately and sustainably.
- Knowledge of the operational risk and control landscape applied to the bank’s technical estate.
- Strong business analysis expertise with structured problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, able to engage technical and non‑technical stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience working with developers and contributing to source code in a mixed‑programming‑language environment, particularly Python and C++.
